This gorgeous commission was among the most enjoyable ever! The lovely Imali came to me full of ideas and positivity, clear with what she liked and was hoping to achieve. She was aware of my work and had found me through another fabric design she liked. We were immediately in tune.
We discovered we shared a love of Sabyasachi too, and I was so utterly inspired by her energy and the project I couldn’t wait to get started! What an honour to be trusted with this! And so we embarked on the lovely process of designing her wedding fabric together.
From initial mood boards of dresses, flowers, patterns & styles I created a rough idea of some new patterns for her to narrow down provide feedback and creative guidance, then once she was happy the composition and style were in the right direction for her dream fabric, I settled in for many hours of drawing to create the beautiful flowers and foliage in the finished design.
Once the artwork was drawn, the next part of the process involves refining the pattern and colours of the artwork to get the balance just right. At this stage you can see the project coming to life!
