The star cut is my new favourite gemstone cut! The simple, large facets really show off the qualities of the natural stone. There's a reason that diamonds are cut with a large table facet right at the top, the larger facets offer unrivalled gloss and sparkle. These large, polished areas make the stars stand out with large shapes intersected by reflected light. I find these more exciting than most star-cut designs, since the shapes are bold in the reflections and there's a myriad of colours refracted from differing depths and angles. They were a delight to draw despite all those tiny shapes! Such cute and lively gems with plenty of brilliance, I couldn't pick just one colour, so had a little tinker with different colour ways after completing the illustration. Which is your favourite?
